OUR STORY
Before the Label, There Was the Music.
A documented thread from Gloria’s childhood family life to the 2018 launch party for The Glo Experience, her event planning business, her daughter’s participation in event music, and Gloria’s original storytelling.
Music Was Already in the Family
Music was a regular part of Gloria’s early family life. Her father, Gilbert Cassell, operated his DJ business from the late 1970s into the early 1980s.
Gloria remembers writing songs at around ten years old. Later, she learned flute for approximately one to two years.

The Glo Experience Launch Party
In 2018, Gloria launched The Glo Experience as her event planning business. These two photographs show Gloria, with short copper hair, at the launch party. Guests are shown wearing silent headphones around the listening station and music equipment.

Before the Label: The Glo Experience
Through her event business, Gloria brought wireless silent-headphone music into events, demonstrations, and vendor presentations. She selected and organized music for the experience; her daughter DJed at numerous events using the company’s equipment.
It was event entrepreneurship, music curation, and audience experience design.

The Next Generation Was Participating Too
At numerous Glo Experience events, Gloria’s daughter DJed using the company’s equipment. One 2018 photograph shows her operating the music setup.
A second archival photograph shows her wearing headphones beside a table of music equipment at a vendor showcase event. This showcase was separate from events hosted by The Glo Experience.
Looking back, Gloria connects that listening work to the original stories she would later put into music.
“Before people wore headphones to listen to my stories, I was already building experiences where people put on headphones to listen to music.”

When her story became the music
Over time, Gloria’s relationship with music shifted from choosing existing recordings for experiences to developing original music to tell stories from her life.
Class Is in Session™: Life Is the Curriculum follows lessons through choices, lived experience, understanding, wisdom, and passing it forward. Four albums carry that connected story through Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years.
I tell the stories of my life through music.
